About Van Leer Institute Press
The Van Leer Institute Press is dedicated to promoting research and critical thought in the humanities and social sciences, while fostering a civic space that supports inclusive democracy. Its publications present groundbreaking ideas, bridge diverse fields of knowledge, and aim to spark enriching, thought-provoking discourse.

The Press’s publications reflect the core issues addressed by the Institute, offering original thinking and theoretical innovation through an interdisciplinary approach that includes insights from sociology, political history, anthropology, political economy, political science, Jewish studies, literature, and gender studies. Alongside academic research, the Press also publishes nonfiction books, journals, and magazines for a broad audience.
The Press was established in the early 1990s and continues to serve as the principal platform for disseminating the Institute’s research. Most titles are published in Hebrew, in collaboration with the Hakibbutz Hameuchad Publishing House. Over the years, the Press has also partnered with leading academic publishers in the United States and Europe. The Maktoob book series—Arabic literature in Hebrew—is published in collaboration with Pardes Publishing.
